Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Farming, George Eustice MP, visited Northumberland last week to take part in a round-table event, discussing a range of issues relating to farming and the rural economy.
The summit, which was attended by representatives from Natural England, the Environment Agency, Newcastle University and farmers and agricultural business leaders from across the region, gave farming experts the opportunity to ask the Minister about important issues affecting rural communities. As part of the event, which was hosted by Hexham MP Guy Opperman, the Minister also spent time at a local working farm.
During the visit, Mr Opperman said: “I was really pleased to be able to welcome the Minister to the Hexham constituency. As one of the most rural constituencies in the UK, it is impossible to overstate how important farming and rural business is to our community, and I will continue to do everything I can to champion the cause of farmers, food producers and rural businesses in the constituency.”
