Hexham MP Guy Opperman visited Stamfordham Cricket Club to thank local cricket clubs that have helped to fundraise for a new pavilion. The pavilion is expected to be ready in time for the first game of the season and will be used by the village football team.
Mr Opperman purchased a brick which will be engraved with his name and built into the wall of fame on the front of the bar of the new pavilion as part of the final fundraising push.
Mr Opperman said: “The new pavilion is looking fantastic and I have no doubt that it will mark the beginning of an exciting new era for cricket in the area.”
The pavilion is scheduled to be opened on 27th May.
