Hexham MP Guy Opperman welcomed pupils from Corbridge Middle School to Parliament recently. Izzy, Christina, Calum, Henry and Alfie make up ‘Operation ReCraft’ and competed in the national finals of the Solutions for the Planet Big Ideas competition. The team’s idea to help the planet was to run a sculpture competition in schools using waste materials, something they have already done in their own school.
Guy said: “It is always great to see young people taking the initiative to protect our planet, so I was delighted to meet the team before the national final began. Well done to everyone involved.”
