In May 2017, Northumberland County Council will hold an election and the electorate of the Alnwick ward will have to choose two councillors to represent them.

At the last election, the Lesbury ward was abolished and the Alnwick ward expanded to included Alnmouth and Lesbury, but represented by two councillors rather than one.

The current councillors are Gordon Castle, a Conservative, and Heather Cairns, a Liberal Democrat.

But, come next May, Coun Castle will be standing alongside another Tory candidate, Robbie Moore, and, if both elected, they hope to form a strong voice for the Alnwick region.

According to the party, ‘Robbie has worked in Alnwick for the last eight years and understands the town well. He loves the place and, aged in his early 30s, Robbie is young, vigorous and enthusiastic.

‘Full of energy and with an appreciative understanding of what the town and local area needs, he is determined to ensure that life is made better for all.’

Leader of Northumberland Conservatives, Coun Peter Jackson, said: “Alnwick and the surrounding district needs a representative with the energy and care for the community to represent local issues and a person with the desire to make a difference. So I am delighted that Robbie is keen to pick up the challenge.”

Highlighting that the Conservatives are the only group large enough to challenge the current Labour administration, he added: “There will be a clear choice next May for a council which will better serve local people in Alnwick and Robbie Moore will be part of that change.”
