Education in our county is at a crossroads. Unfortunately some of our schools are not performing as well as they should in order with our county being ranked by Ofsted to be 132nd out of 151 local authorities across the county. Issues such as middle and senior schools as well as post-16 transport are all included in this survey, in order to give our children the best possible opportunities in life. Whether you have children currently in schooling or not, we need your views to be better able to being to put this right.
We have put together this special survey to gauge views across our area. We are very grateful for your time in letting us know your opinions on some of the major points of education and specifically some of the particular challenges we face in our large, and in parts, very rural county including transport and safety at school gates.
With the hard work of teachers and the support of parents some of our schools are achieving some excellent results, I am sure we would all like to see continued improvement. That is why Conservatives are focussing on greater choice for parents and freedom for schools which has been shown to dramatically improve standards.
We will be collating the results of this survey and sharing them with our local schools, the council our MPs and government in order to tie together to reach the best possible outcome for the next generation across Northumberland.
