Our county’s fire and rescue service have once again been called upon to rescue those in need from flooded areas of the Tyne Valley.
Cllr Peter Jackson (Leader of Northumberland Conservatives) commented
“In particular it has come to my notice that the part-time/retained fire fighters from the Haydon Bridge Fire Station have been involved in helping out residents in what is a distressing and worrying time for them. It is with horror that we see the current proposals from Northumberland County Council to close the Fire Station at Haydon Bridge which has once again shown its value to the local community. On behalf of residents across the County, I feel I must pay tribute to the fantastic support that the community has seen from our Fire and Rescue Service and will continue to campaign to ensure that they are able to retain important infrastructure by prioritizing resources effectively.”
