Anne-Marie Trevelyan, newly re-elected MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, attended the now annual Armed Forces Day parade in Berwick on Saturday. The event marked the town’s commemorations of those who have served the nation and those who continue to do so, as part of the national Armed Forces Day.
The MP, who has recently been appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Ministers, and is a staunch supporter of the armed forces, joined festivities in Berwick which included church services at St Andrew’s Church and a march past through the town centre led by a pipe band.
Anne-Marie said: “It is always a privilege to support the men and women of our armed forces and the veterans whose service to the country in the past has kept our democracy safe. It is great to have the opportunity to join with the community in honouring them and thanking them for all they do to protect us.”
Joining Mrs Trevelyan and members of local cadet forces were the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland, Stuart Birkett, the Mayor of Berwick (Cllr Gregagh Roughead) and Liam Much, the Sheriff of the town.
