Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, has expressed her delight that Amble’s Queen Street has been shortlisted in the “Champion” category of the Great British High Street Awards, which received over 240 entrants.
There are 26 finalists vying for the chance to be crowned the winner, and to win £10,000. The winner will be decided by a mixture of judges’ and public votes.
Anne-Marie said, “I am not surprised that glorious Queen Street has been shortlisted – it is up to all of us to get voting for Amble! Regardless of whether we win, this is great news for Amble, and a recognition of the businesses and community groups who have worked so hard to foster such a great atmosphere which has led to it being shortlisted.”
All people have to do to vote is post n Facebook or Twitter using the hashtags #MYHIGHSTREET and #GBHSAmble to register a vote.
Voting closes on 31st October, and the winner will be announced on 15th November.
