Councillor Nick Oliver, County Councillor for Corbridge met with Will Clouston, the Corbridge Parish Council Chairman, and Miller Homes today to do the 'Golden Brick' inspection for the first of the 4 Community Houses the Parish Council are purchasing.

Cllr Oliver initiated this project in 2018 meeting with Miller Homes about the housing development as they were about to start. A condition of the planning permission granted in 2016 was to build a number of homes for social housing. Corbridge as a local community is in need of affordable housing for local residents.

Will and the rest of the Parish Councillors gave their full backing to the project, and with support from the County Council, the acquisition of a bungalow and 3 semi-detached houses were negotiated.

The first to be completed in 2022 will be one of the bungalows (pictured above) which will be below the Potteries. These houses will be available to local people at social rents.

There are going to be 27 affordable houses on the site in total. 18 of them are going to be affordable rent and 9 will be shared ownership. 4 of the affordable rent units are being bought by the Parish Council and the remainder by an established social housing provider.
