Significant progress is being made in Morpeth to reopen buildings that in some cases have been closed for many years. Key amongst those is the Queens head on Bridge Street which has sat vacant for over a decade. Foundations have now gone in for the extension to rear of the building that, following the completion of works, will reopen as a hotel, café and bar under the ‘Pleased to meet you’ brand.
Local councillor David Bawn, who is also the Mayor of Morpeth said, “Morpeth is open for business in earnest from this weekend following the easing of lockdown restrictions. Great care has gone in to making sure we open up our town in a safe and responsible manner.
“It is great to be able to look forward to returning to some form of normality but also to see that during lockdown work has continued on key sites like the Queens Head. The County Council has worked to help make this project a reality and I cannot wait to see it open.”
